Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present this beautifully built 1966 Chevelle SS in Dragon Fire Red. The vehicle is powered by a 454 motor that has been punched out to a 508 that generates 650hp, 550 to the ground. The motor was custom built by Greg McKinney at Eagle Machine in Buffalo, Missouri. That power is transferred to the rear wheels via the original 4-speed manual transmission and original rear end–both of which have been gone through during restoration. Connected to the motor is the Hooker header and exhaust system. The vehicle is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes with stainless steel brake lines and Hurst Roll Control to get those awesome burnouts. It is loaded with a full HotchKis performance suspension, oversize sway bars and six-way adjustable rear pinion. During the frame off restoration a stainless-steel bolt set was used for reassembly, a Zoom kevlar clutch and Yukon axles were installed. In addition, the frame rails were reinforced, as well as the C channel. The frame was powder-coated, while the body received multiple coats of Dupont Dragon Fire Red body primer and sealer, and paint, as well as multiple applications of clearcoat. The vehicle is equipped with 800-watt stereo w/Boston Acoustic 6-inch speakers in doors, 9 inch in rear deck, and 10-inch sub in the trunk. No expense was spared on this vehicle during the restoration. The clock and all gauges function properly, and the front seats are equipped with a five-point racing harness. The vehicle sits on Cragar mag wheels and Mickey Thompson tires. Of the 72,272 Chevelle SS 396 models in 1966, only 3,099 were equipped with the L78 396 cubic inch motor. This is one of those models. In addition to the currently installed motor, this beautiful Chevelle comes with the original numbers matching L78 engine block. You would have to look long and hard to find a nicer ‘66 Chevelle. This vehicle is located in Springfield, Missouri with a clean title and an asking price of $79,900. Contact Tom F. (269-317-3955) for more information about this vehicle.
